Prairie Dachshund Club Versatility Program

In 2007 The Prairie Dachshund Club began offering it's own " Versatility Program " for club members.

The Versatility Committee ~ Sarah-Jane Petti, Lindy Wiebe, Janet Rein and Nancy Carkenar worked hard on putting this program together and hope that club members will check it out. Dachshunds can be a challenge to train at times but they are able to do so much more than conformation events. There are various sports Dachshunds can compete in , as well they make great Therapy dogs, from warming a heart to bringing a smile. Check out the 4 levels of the Club's Versatility Program.

Prairie Dachshund Club

Versatility Program Guidelines

Purpose
To recognize and encourage all members of the Prairie Dachshund Club to participate in
different dog activities. To show case the intelligence and work ethic of the dachshund
breed.


Rules
1. Awards will only be issued to Prairie Dachshund Club members in good standing.
Members must have a minimum of two years of continuous membership.

2. Versatility awards will not be given posthumously.

3. Recognition may only be earned once within the same category, even if different titles
have been earned under different organizations. The highest level title will be
considered for each category. For example, a dog that has an AKC CDX and a CKC
CD can only use one title towards the versatility award.

4. At each award level, it is not necessary to meet requirements from a different category
than the previous level. For example, a person may use a CKC CD title for their
Versatile Dachshund application, and then use it again when applying for the Versatile
Dachshund Excellent award.

5. Applicants must use the official versatility application submitted with the appropriate
documentation sent to the Versatility Committee one month prior to the annual Prairie
Dachshund Club Specialty. Awards will be presented at the specialty show.
Awards

Versatile Dachshund (VD)
> Must meet requirements from 3 categories
> All requirements may be from the Versatile Dachshund row
> Qualifying dachshunds will be presented with a framed certificate and an award to be
determined

Example
- 3 points towards championship, CGN, RN
- 5 points towards championship, PCD, IQ

Versatile Dachshund Excellent (VDX)
> Must meet requirements from 3 categories
> All requirements must be from the Versatile Dachshund Excellent row or above
> Qualifying dachshunds will be presented with a framed certificate and an award to be
determined

Example
- 8 championship points, JE, RA
- 6 championship points, RL1, CD

Versatile Dachshund Champion (VDCh)
> A conformation championship title must be earned, along with requirements from an
additional 2 categories
> All requirements must be from the Versatile Dachshund Champion row or above
> Qualifying dachshunds will be presented with a framed certificate and an award to be
determined

Example
- Championship, CKC Intermediate agility title, TDX
- Championship, RA, SE

Lifetime Versatility Award
> This award is designed to celebrate and recognize those once in a lifetime dachshunds
> A conformation championship title must be earned, along with requirements from an
additional 3 categories. At least 1 of these must be from a category that displays the
dog’s natural instincts. This includes the categories of Earthdog, Field Trialing, or
Tracking.
> All requirements must be from the Lifetime Versatility row
> Qualifying dachshunds will be presented with a framed certificate and an award to be
determined

Example
- Alt Championship, ME, CARO RE, VST
- Championship, 200+ hours of therapy work, VST, OTCh
